ShopSmartI’ve subscribed to Consumer Reports’ Shop Smart since issue #1. Even at full price off the stand it saves me $$$.
I admit it took a bit to get used to the lack of advertising (makes for much fewer pages, and thus the mag seems thin), but I got accustomed to the pleasures of ad-free reading FAST!

Now that I can read it on my Kindle Fire it’s clear that size really doesn’t matter when you can page through pure content. Shop Smart is the best of the best of “women-oriented” mags — and I should know, since a major part of my job involves reading nearly every fashion, home design, fitness, cooking, family, lifestyle, crafty, and DIY rag out there!

Knowing the influence advertisers exert over most periodicals editors, it’s a refreshing island of objective honesty that I cannot WAIT to get my hands on the second it hits my Kindle Fire each month.

Shop Smart from Consumer Reports–the name says it all!

I enjoy the content very much. It is definitely geared towards women. I always find interesting information in it.
What I don’t like is reading it on the Kindle. The pages don’t take up the entire screen; it’s smaller than the screen. Since the print is smaller it is very hard to read. I have to zoom in and then move the page all around to view the content. If the page took up the entire screen it would be so much better.
Content gets a thumbs up from me, the Kindle format gets a thumbs down.

9/14/2012 UPDATE: I couldn’t stand the aggravation anymore and canceled my Kindle subscription to ShopSmart.
